History
GroupArgent is the result of the combined interest and experience of its Partners who came together to create a merchant bank focused on the Data Economy. The firm provides both the corporate advisory services associated with investment banking activities as well as negotiated private equity investments in the securities of select client companies in its Focus Sectors.
Launched in 2009, GroupArgent’s core advisory practice has roots dating back to 2005 with the founding of its predecessor firm, Milbank Roy, by Pierre-Georges Roy and Maurice Watkins. Roy and Watkins formed the core of that firm’s advisory team where they evolved its practice from that of a general investment banking boutique to a lead advisor to entrepreneurial, rapidly-growing corporations within the Data Economy in both the U.S. and internationally.
With the addition of Andrew Meyers in 2009, the firm rebranded to GroupArgent (“Argent” translates to “silver” or “money” in French) and established its additional practice of private equity investing to take advantage of not only his experience as an investor within the Data Economy, but also that of Messrs. Roy and Watkins who had been the principal investment team of The Zanett Group, a mid-market investment firm, prior to founding Milbank Roy.
With the core team in place, the firm has added regional partners in New England and Latin America to capitalize on emerging companies in these important markets.
